On March 31, 2023, the FSSC Foundation published the 6th Version of FSSC 22000. Version 6 has a 12-month transition window to allow organizations to prepare for the new version and certification bodies to implement and obtain accreditation. The first audits of Version 6 will begin from 01 April 2024, and all organizations must complete the V6 upgrade audit before 31 March 2025.
The FSSC22000 Foundation has released a version 6 Upgrade Process document detailing migration requirements and a version of the plan that highlights the changes between V5.1 and V6. The main changes in FSSC 22000 Version 6 are as follows;
– Food Chain Categories have been rearranged in accordance with ISO 22003-1:2022.
– Scope expanded to include Trading and Brokerage (FII) and narrowed by removing Farming and FSSC 22000-Quality from the programme.
– Integration of requirements regarding food safety and quality culture was achieved.
– New requirements for quality control, food loss and waste, and equipment management were defined.
– Strengthened existing additional requirements in Part 2 of the program, including but not limited to allergen management and environmental monitoring.
– Added changes and clarifications to the Certification Process requirements.
